Developers are so vital for the #drupal association that there isn’t a single one in the board of directors 🙃

@jeni @jpoesen I'm not sure anymore https://www.drupal.org/project/commerce/issues/3415193#comment-15485106
"Drupal Commerce modules occasionally link to offers from technology partners in
contextually relevant portions of the administrative interface. "
Is that even allowed?
If this becomes wide-spread Drupal sites are going to look like Wordpress sites before long...
As an agency I can see a client calling me because they're now ads showing on their site 😂
According to this comment https://www.drupal.org/project/commerce/issues/3415193#comment-15485106 there might be additional variables you might want to turn off?
$settings['commerce_dashboard_show_toolbar_link'] = FALSE;
$settings['commerce_dashboard_fetch_inbox_messages'] = FALSE;
"Drupal Commerce modules occasionally link to offers from technology partners in
contextually relevant portions of the administrative interface. To simplify
disabling these, the project has established a pattern of all such banners
respecting a setting you can set in your site's settings.php"
$settings['commerce_show_partner_banners'] = FALSE;
Seems #Drupal Commerce is now showing ads on the backend for Drupal sites/developers ❓
Anyway at least they documented how to not display them in the release notes: https://www.drupal.org/project/commerce/releases/8.x-2.38
@bsnodgrass @drupalassoc I don't know if there's record of the webinar or if the Q&A will be made public.
@pcambra @drupalassoc https://drupal.community/@hestenet@mastodon.social
Is the webinar link available somewhere?
"A webinar is planned for March to review the new Drupal Certified Partner program.
If you would like to learn more, please register for our upcoming webinar on 5 March 2024 hosted by myself and Kelly Delaney, our Director of Development..."
@liberatr @bsnodgrass not really, more on here https://drupal.community/@pcambra/111929240606434682
@ultimike @hestenet we are, but we will stop being so. The change to the new "certified partners" model implies that everyone that doesn't pay is a taker (or not a maker), the community tier disappears and marketplace will show only paying companies and as a small company we just can't justify a 5x increase in our budget for this.
Additionally, there's no clarity on where the data/numbers come from to reach the tiers that are planned and everything on this decision making has been opaque.
"If you are not paying for it, you're not the customer; you're the product being sold." - Andrew Lewis from 2010 (summarizing Richard Serra from 1973)
We need a variation on that quote addressing FOSS, open core & public goods, but the decision to sell content & activity of 6mil wordpress.com sites for AI training should remind anyone using a service for free (or too cheap to cover costs) offered by a FOR-PROFIT entity required to eventually profit from everything they do
@YesCT we were organising the next Spanish camp in an open trello board, not sure if we will move to drupal.org issues, to a GitHub board..? Idk 🤦🏻
@mortendk Yeah when everything is changing pricing models all the time, it gets frustrating, we should all host our own open source alternatives 😡
@pcambra were soon back to the days of ok fuck it im just gonna build this tool myself
@pcambra What are you thinking? Replace with a spreadsheet? Other system?
Oh well "Free Trello Workspaces will be limited to 10 collaborators starting April 8, 2024"
